The successful candidate for our Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) position will operate in the classroom as a co-learner, researcher and teaching partner with their students, guiding the children in exploring and investigating, while leading them to a deeper understanding of the dynamic curricular content. They will collaboratively design, implement, and document curricula and assessments and engage in co-curricular activities, such as athletics, arts and academics. This includes providing supervision and age appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the extended day program. The candidate will be required to work in a culture of learners and researchers in an inquiry environment

The ideal candidate will have

  • Relevant College and/or University qualifications, Early Childhood Education
  • Member in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
  • 3 – 5 years of exemplary experience teaching in a childcare or educational setting
  • Knowledge and practice of subject matter, curriculum planning, and assessment practices, according to Early Years Ministry requirement
  • Knowledge of and practice in inquiry and project based learning
  • Knowledge of and practice in teaching in an integrative manner using the facets of STEAM to learn and teach in such an environment Proven ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public
  • Understanding of the stages of child development and theories of development
  • Proven ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public
  • Proven ability to follow organizational policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment where teachers demonstrate the principles of inquiry-based decision-making with other teachers, staff at all levels, and with the school Head and Assistant
  • Technological acumen and experience utilizing hardware essentials( Smart boards, Epson, laptop, tablets and handheld devices), software essentials in a classroom environment, and social media
  • Current CPR/First Aid/TB/Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Schedules will vary and will range from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Hours of work are determined at the discretion of the Head of School to enable delivery of both care and extended day programs.

Work Year: Incumbents will be required to work on Professional Development Days, March Break, and Summer Break. The work year potentially goes beyond the school year.
